DebreBerhan University inaugurated daycare center on September 18, 2018 G.C in its compound. On the occasion,Dr Seife Getaneh, representative for Research and Community Service vice President, said that Federal Government of Ethiopia under proclamation 1064/2010 E.C
ratified that all government organization should built daycare center for children’s of female employees to take care their children safety and feed breast milk for six months and as a result it helps them to be successful in their work place.
He added that the objectives of the center are to help women to be successful at their work, to give right protection for the children and enhance their feeding habits and to alleviate the work load of the female employees who do not have caregivers at home.
Aster Bedada, Representative Director for Women, Youth and Children Directorate, on her part presented the center report. The center planed to register over 40 children under the age of 2 years and the directorate recruited professional caregivers. She thanked the university president and other stakeholders who contributed for the accomplishment of the center.
Finally, Ato Getachew Tefera,DBU President, opened the center and said that it is the new initiative that the university took and every stakeholders should take part in expanding and scaling up the center because the demand would be greater than we expect. The center would enable the female workers to stay safe and concentrate on their duties; otherwise, it would be a loss if she put her child at home.
The participants gave constructive comments and they hoped the center would be helpful to make them effective at their work.
