Research and Project

The College of Natural and Computational Sciences (CNCS) is one among ten colleges in Debre Berhan University established in 2007. The college has energetic young staff members striving towards getting solutions to societal problems through research and community engagement. The staff has a pronounced practice of disseminating research outputs at different research workshops/ conferences organized in the country and abroad.

Currently, the college staff members are involved in various research projects including

A. Increasing Civet musk production by introducing civet farming practices and captive management to North Shewa Zone, Amhara Region, central highlands of Ethiopia, and Formulations of Shampoo and Toothpaste using the indigenous knowledge together with Ankober Botanical Garden and Indigenous Wisdom Development Center

B. Petrography, Geochemistry, and Regional Mapping of Ankober Geology at 1:50,000 Scale in collaboration with Amhara Region Bureau of Mining

C. Occurrence and physical and geochemical characteristics of clay minerals and diatomite in the inter-trappean sedimentary unit, North Shewa, Ethiopia.

Improving the traditional preparation technology of local beverage called “Areqi” in Debre Berhan and Debre Sina districts.
