Debre Berhan University (DBU), in
partnership with the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), has launched a new
online payment system for all university services. The initiative aims to
improve efficiency and support the country's move towards digital transformation.
During the launch event, DBU
President Dr. Asmare Melese highlighted the importance of the new system,
noting that it will streamline university operations. He also mentioned DBU's
ongoing efforts to integrate all its automated systems, including those for
academic, administrative, research, and hospital services.
Mr. Chalew Tesfaye, a DBU SIMS
System Administrator, and Mr. Biniam Eshetu, a Software Developer at the
university's ICT executive, provided a live demonstration of the system.
Mr. Robel Cheber, Director of
CBE's Debre Birhan district, praised DBU for the initiative and confirmed that
the system is a mature and reliable solution that will effectively address
various challenges.
DBU's Academic Vice President,
Dr. Getnet Ashenafi, facilitated the event and encouraged attendees to discuss
the system for further clarification. He announced that the online payment
system will be fully implemented starting in the first semester of the 2018
E.C. academic year.
The event concluded with a
discussion on the system's features and payment processes. In his closing
remarks, Dr. Asmare Melese thanked the DBU ICT team, the DBU Registrar's
office, and the team from CBE for their collaboration.
