The university’s vice president for research and community service, Dr.Almaz Afera, after welcoming the participants, said that Higher Education Institutions are highly accountable to carry out problem solving research. In this regard, DBU has finalized preparing business plan for Ankober Herbal Medicine preparation project.She added that DBU has got a new research and community service site at Mintamir of Minjar Shenkora woreda.

Ato Getachew Tefera,Debre Berhan University  President ,said that as part of its effort to excel in producing skilled, competent and responsible man power, conducting problem solving research and knowledge based community services DBU has demonstrated modest progress so far. Debre Berhan University is trying to establish a system of enabling ground to promote and enhance research for knowledge and technology transfer and provide community services that cater to the development of the country along with producing capable graduates.

The symposium will continue in different parallel session for 2 days.
