Debre Berhan University Embarks on Digital Transformation with Cashless Payment System Through Partnership with Commercial Bank of Ethiopia

Debre Birhan, Amhara, Ethiopia - [18/10/2024] - Debre Berhan University (DBU) has taken a significant step towards its digitalization aspirations by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE). This agreement will pave the way for a fully digitalized payment system within the university, enabling all financial transactions to be processed through CBE's mobile banking platform, CBEBirr. 

The implementation of this cashless payment system aligns with DBU's commitment to enhancing service efficiency, reducing costs, and maximizing security. By eliminating the reliance on physical cash, the university anticipates streamlining payment processes, minimizing transaction time, and mitigating security risks associated with cash handling. 

The signing ceremony, which took place at Debre Berhan University, was attended by Dr. Getnet Ashenafi, Academic Vice President of DBU, along with Directors of Finance and ICT Directorates, and officials from CBE at Debre Berhan District. Both parties expressed their commitment to facilitating a smooth implementation process, drawing upon the technical expertise of their respective teams to ensure the system seamlessly integrates with the university's existing infrastructure. 

This partnership marks a key milestone in DBU's digital transformation journey, demonstrating its dedication to embracing innovative technologies that enhance the overall student and staff experience.
