Welcoming the delegates, Dr.Almaz Afera, Vice President for Research and Community Service, said that Debre Berhan University has been working on the selected center of excellence and producing the roadmap for the fields which the university wanted to excel. The centers of excellence of Debre berhan University are such as Highland Agriculture, Medieval History and Herbal Medicine Preparations.   

Professor Ray Weil, from University of Maryland-USA, on his part briefly introduced the objective of the trip here in Debre Berhan University. The two universities have similar colleges in Agriculture and environmental science and technology. He told that University of Maryland was working to educate farmers and was participated in delivering extension services.

The delegates will stay for a week and they will visit Debre Berhan university compound, Shewarobit Integrated Aqua Culture site, Ankober Herbal Medicine Preparation and Women in Agriculture Project around Debre Berhan town and schools. It is expected that they will present public lectures on their specialization and experiences to DBU staffs and students. Finally the project agreement will be signed.
